Afghan players have always been a hit in the IPL. Fans love them, and they sure know how to deliver on the field. We’ve seen Rashid Khan spinning webs, and Mohammad Nabi smashing runs.

Now, with the IPL 2025 mega auction just around the corner, 18 Afghan players are set to go under the hammer, and CSK might be looking to snap up a few of them. Here’s a look at the top three Afghanistan players, whom Chennai Super Kings will target in IPL 2025 mega auction.

Why Will CSK Target Mujeeb Ur Rahman?

Mujeeb Ur Rahman burst onto the IPL scene back in 2018 with Punjab, picking up 14 wickets in 11 matches at an economy under seven. But then he moved to SRH, and things didn’t quite go his way. That doesn’t mean he’s lost his edge, though. He’s been consistent for Afghanistan, especially with his deceptive spin with the new ball.

Chepauk is a spinner’s paradise, and we know CSK loves their spinners. Mujeeb could be just what they need – tricky, unpredictable, and hard to read. With Dhoni guiding from behind the stumps, Mujeeb might find himself right at home in yellow, delivering those tight spells that CSK fans go crazy for.

Why Will CSK Target Azmatullah Omarzai?

CSK has always loved players who can do a bit of everything. Azmatullah Omarzai fits that bill. He can swing the new ball, nail those yorkers at the death, and hit some big shots down the order. Plus, he’s a gun fielder. Last season, he had a short run with Gujarat Titans, picking up four wickets in seven matches. But there’s more to him than those numbers show.

With CSK’s history of backing players with potential, Omarzai could really shine under Dhoni’s guidance. He’s got the skills and the attitude, and with the right support, he could be a huge asset. CSK fans love a good all-rounder, and Omarzai might just be their next favourite.

Why Will CSK Target Noor Ahmad?

Top of the list is Noor Ahmad. This young spinner’s already made a name for himself, picking up 24 wickets in 23 matches over two IPL seasons with Gujarat Titans. His economy of 8.04 is not bad for a spinner. Noor’s got that X-factor CSK loves. He can bowl at any stage of the game – powerplay, middle overs, or at the death. 

And on Chepauk’s turning tracks, he could be pure gold. CSK has a knack for using spinners with the new ball, and Noor’s just the guy for that job. If CSK manages to grab him, he could easily lead their spin attack and bring a bit of that Rashid Khan magic with him.
