Drawing curtains on the curiosity of all the cricket fans, the retention lists of the IPL franchises have been revealed for the next edition. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru was one of the teams that talked the most about before the deadline.
The first name in the RCB retention list was not a big surprise (Virat Kohli for INR 21 Cr). However, they pulled out the rabbit of the hat with releases like those of Mohammad Siraj, Faf du Plessis and Gelnn Maxwell. The RCB management has retained only three players and used only INR 37 Cr of their purse. They will go into the mega auction with a purse of INR 83 Cr and have three RTM in their arsenal. RCB can use their RTMs on one uncapped player and two capped players.
RCB's Capped RTMs
Will RCB use their RTM for Mohammed Siraj?
The Indian pacer has long been an integral part of the RCB set-up. Mohammed Siraj has made himself an influential member of the RCB bowling line-up. However, the recent form of Siraj has not been great. He has not been amongst the wickets, which could be why they decided to release him. But come the mega auction, an Indian pacer who knows the knits and grits of the team could be one of the prime targets for the RTMs by RCB.
Will RCB use their RTM for Will Jacks?
The English all-rounder stepped big time during the second half of the IPL 2024. Will Jacks's show with the bat and the ball was one of the prime reasons that RCB were able to turn around their campaign. His aggressive batting and ability to deliver a couple of overs might prove to be handy for the team in the tournament. So, RCB might look to use one of their capped RTMs on the English all-rounder.
Will RCB use their RTM for Glenn Maxwell?
The Australian superstar has served the franchise well in his first two seasons with them. However, IPL 2024 was a nightmarish season for Glenn Maxwell. They have released Glenn Maxwell, which indicates that they are probably looking ahead of him. There is a chance that RCB will not use one of their RTMs for Glenn Maxwell.
RCB's Uncapped RTMs
Will RCB use their RTM for Anuj Rawat?
The RCB management has shown much belief in this young Indian batter. They have backed Anuj Rawat despite him not being too consistent. However, Rawat has played a couple of brilliant knocks for them, which is why they might look to use one of their uncapped RTMs for him.
Will RCB use their RTM for Suyash Prabhudessai?
The young middle-order batter is known for his dynamic batting. Although Suyash Prabhudessai had not got too many chances for RCB in the grand league, he has promised a lot whenever he has come out for them. RCB has often backed batters more than bowlers, which is why they might RTM Prabhudeshai to increase depth and flexibility in their middle order.
