The second day of the IPL 2025 mega auction has ended after some intense action. All the teams were engaged in intense bidding wars for the top players. While we saw some players being sold for unexpected high prices, we also some players not getting the expected bids.

As we draw a conclusion on the IPL 2025 mega auction, here are the three biggest shockers from the day 2 of the grand event.

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar Being Sold For INR 10.75 Cr

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is known for his brilliant bowling in the opening overs. His skill set with the new balls is valued and priced by all the franchises in the tournament. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have always struggled for quality in the pace department. They were looking to desperately overcome their shortcomings and hence they went hard for the veteran Indian bowler. Their zeal to include Kumar in their squad saw his price to rise as high as INR 10.75 Cr. His performances in the last couple of seasons and his age might have led some of the fans to think that he might not command too much of a price in this auction.

2. LSG spending INR 8 Cr for Akash Deep

Akash Deep has recently earned a spot in the Indian Test team and as a result he became a sought after entity during the second day of the auction. However, the Indian pacer has been expensive during is time with the RCB in the IPL. Given his economy rate of 11.67 so far in the tournament, it was not expected that he will be sold for a price of INR 8 Cr. However, LSG probably needed a bowler who can stand up for them at any stage of the game. Also, his bowling style might be a better fit for the Ekana pitch than the M.Chinnaswamy track. Yet, given his past numbers, the sum of INR 8 Cr was one of the shockers on Day 2.

1. RCB Not Using The RTM On Will Jacks

The English all-rounder, Will Jacks was an important part of RCB's dramatic comeback in the second half of the IPL 2024. He played brilliantly in the top order and looking at his contribution it was expected that RCB will be retaining them.

However, even when he was being sold for price of INR 5.25 Cr to Mumbai Indians, RCB decided not use the RTM for him. Given the balance he would have brought and the dynamism that he could have added, Will Jacks would have been a great pick for the franchise. The RCB not using their RTM card for Will Jacks was probably the biggest shocker on Day 2.
