Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) battle it out in the 44th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, scheduled at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on May 2.

While Gujarat Titans will aim to maintain their supremacy at the top, it is a must-win encounter for Delhi Capitals.

Before the battle takes centre stage, let us look at the player battles which may decide the outcome of the match.

Anrich Nortje vs Shubman Gill

The DC pace-bowling spearhead holds an upper hand when pitted against GT's most prominent batter. In T20 cricket, Anrich Nortje has got the better of Shubman Gill twice. In their previous meeting, it was Nortje only, who cleaned up Gill.

Anrich Nortje vs Shubman Gill in T20s: 21 balls, 34 runs, 2 dismissals, Average - 17

Anrich Nortje vs Wriddhiman Saha

Just like his opening partner, Wriddhiman Saha too has had his fair share of struggles while facing the South African. In just nine balls, Nortje has already taken Saha's wicket on two occasions.

Anrich Nortje vs Wriddhiman Saha in T20s: 9 balls, 9 runs, 2 dismissals, Average - 4.5

David Warner vs Mohammad Shami

Though Mohammad Shami has been on song in IPL 2023, his numbers against David Warner are below average. While the Aussie has been striking at a low rate in the ongoing season, he may finally come to his own while facing Shami with the new ball.

David Warner vs Mohammad Shami in T20s: 76 balls, 107 runs, 2 dismissals, Average - 53.5, Strike-rate - 140.8

Alzarri Joseph vs David Warner

Although Joshua Little is the overseas pacer playing for the Titans, they may be tempted to include Alzarri Joseph, looking at his stats versus Warner.

Axar Patel vs Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya has found it tough to get going with the bat in IPL 2023. As Pandya bats at number three, GT could bring Axar Patel into the attack as soon as a wicket falls.
