Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008, but have not been able to reach those heights since then. They came very close in 2022 when under Sanju Samson they reached the final, but the prestigious silverware has been missing.

However, there is no dearth of talent in the RR camp with great blend of youth and experience and have strong Indian core along with overseas stars. So, what are some crucial pointers that Sanju Samson-led RR need to do right to go all the way in IPL 2024? Let's find out.

Blazing Starts From Openers

Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the most dangerous opening pair of IPL 2024 and if they both fire in unison consistently, RR will find themselves in great position more often than not. Buttler was the orange cap holder in IPL 2022 with 863 runs while in the 2023 season, Yashasvi grabbed the limelight with over 600 runs.

Both of them have a career strike rate in IPL around 150 and have the ability to demolish bowling attacks right from the onset. So, if RR want to go full throttle this season, they need their openers to fire upfront.

Finishing Touches From Caribbean Duo

Shimron Hetmyer has been RR's designated finisher in the last couple of years but whenever he failed, RR could not get the desired finishing touch. This time around though, Rovman Powell has been drafted into the side who is a dangerous batter himself and can partner with Hetmyer down the order to give RR a strong finish or bail them out of trouble in case of early wickets.

Indian Pacers Need To Step Up

RR have Trent Boult in their arsenal, one of the finest new-ball bowlers in world cricket. They have the deadly spin-duo of Ashwin and Chahal too, but the problem last season was the performance of Indian pacers.

Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out and so the responsibility falls on the likes of Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Sen, Navdeep Saini and Sandeep Sharma to deliver, especially at the death where they have been leaking runs. All the four pacers have played for India but have blown hot and cold over the years, and if they get their act right, RR can surely end their trophy drought in IPL 2024.
