Saim Ayub and Shubman Gill - (Source : AFP)
On Friday, September 19, India secured a 21-run win over Oman, extending their winning streak in the Asia Cup 2025. With the conclusion of the match, it also brought an end to the group-stage round. Now, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will kickstart the Super Four round on Saturday, September 20.
Ahead of the crucial match, this article will shed light on the flop XI of the entire tournament so far.
1. Shubman Gill - India
India's vice-captain will open the innings as he failed to score big and seize the opportunity upon his return to the T20I set-up. Gill, in the three matches, managed to amass just 35 runs in three games, averaging 17.50.
His best knock came against the UAE, where he scored an unbeaten 20 (9), whereas in the rest of the two innings, he failed to keep up with the team's tempo.
2. Saim Ayub - Pakistan
Saim Ayub makes the list without any doubt as the southpaw is yet to open his account in the Asia Cup 2025. Notably, the youngster has played three matches and scored a duck in all of them.
Ayub entered an unwanted list of becoming just the third Pakistani batter to score three consecutive ducks.
3. Ibrahim Zadran - Afghanistan
One of the major reasons behind Afghanistan's early exit from Asia Cup 2025 is the failure of their top-order. Ibrahim Zadran, who was Afghanistan's second leading run-getter during 2024 T20 World Cup semis, has amassed just 30 runs in three innings.
3. Salman Ali Agha - Pakistan
Among the skippers, Pakistan's Salman Ali Agha has had the worst group-stage performance. A captain's role is to be head and shoulders above the rest, so others could follow. However, with Agha, the right-handed batter has just scored 23 runs in three innings, averaging 7.67,
Agha has scored two single-digit scores, and his best performance came against the UAE, where he amassed 20 (27).
4. Hasan Nawaz - Pakistan
Pakistan struggled heavily during the group-stages as they were totally let down by their middle-order. Before the start of the tournament, all eyes were on Hasan Nawaz, but the 23-year-old disappointed heavily.
Notably, Hasan failed to score a solitary double-digit score and amassed just 17 runs in three matches and is yet to find a boundary in this tournament.
5. Dasun Shanaka - Sri Lanka
Apart from India, Sri Lanka is the only team who are yet to be defeated in Asia Cup 2025. All the players are on top of their game, but 34-year-old Dasun Shanaka seems to be struggling for form.
The former Sri Lanka captain has failed to score runs and also struggled to pick up wickets. Notably, Shanaka took just two wickets in three matches, while he amassed seven runs with the bat in two innings.
6. Mahedi Hasan - Bangladesh
In the group stages, all the Bangladesh players played their part and contributed to the team's success. However, Mahedi Hasan was the only weak link and a better performance was expected from the 30-year-old.
Hasan has just picked up two wickets in two innings and the spinner, who was pioneer behind Bangladesh's success during bilateral series vs Pakistan , should have done more for The Tigers.
7. Mohammad Haris - Pakistan
Amond the keepers, rest of the teams have done well, but for Pakistan, Mohamamd Haris only shone in the first match against Oman, but struggled to score runs against India and UAE. Haris started his campaign with a 66-run knock vs Oman, but that too was criticised for being slow as he took 43-balls.
In the last two matches, Haris has only scored 21 runs, which has actually, put his place in the team in danger.
8. Rashid Khan -Afghanistan
Rashid Khan has been the biggest disappointment for Afghanistan this edition, which also led to the Afghan's early exit in Asia Cup 2025. Khan only managed to pick up three wickets in three innings.
With the bat, Rashid was decent and still amassed 47 runs in three innings, averaging 23.50. However, Afghanistan missed him with the ball.
10. Fazalhaq Farooqi - Afghanistan
Fazalhaq failed to carry hopes of Afghanistan's pace bowling in Naveen Ul-Haq's absence. The right-arm seamer, who was the leading wicket-taker during T20I World Cup 2024, took just two wickets in three innings and also went wicketless in two matches.
11. Matheesha Pathirana - Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka had a lot of hopes riding on Matheesha Pathirana, but the right-arm seamer disappointed against Bangladesh. He gave away a whopping 42 runs in his four overs, which also saw him missing the next two matches.
Further, Pathirana's disappointing show came on a day when rest of the bowlers were on song and picked early wickets.
