In a significant development, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has skipped the press conference for the second time in a row in this Asia Cup 2025. The development comes just a day ahead of Pakistan's Super Four tie against India.

Notably, Subhayan Chakraborty of RevSportz, tweeted that Pakistan have decided to boycott the press conference on the eve of the India match. It is for the second time, after the UAE match, that Salman Ali Agha refused to interact with the journalists.

This development has arised because of the handshake saga, which has been the talk of the town in the last week. Notably, after India beat Pakistan on September 21, the Men in Blue refused to shake hands with Agha and his men.

It led to a massive controversy as PCB demanded the removal of the match referee and also threatened to boycott the entire Asia Cup. Amid this chaos, Salman Agha also skipped the press conference against the UAE and has now done the same against India.

A source quoted by NDTV Sports remarked that the reason why Pakistan cancelled the presser is to avoid questions on Andy Pycroft and Handshake saga.

Why Did Pakistan Boycott Asia Cup 2025 Presser?

"Pakistan have once again cancelled pre match presser conference in order to avoid questions on Pycroft appointment and no handshake controversy," a tournament source said to NDTV.

For the unversed, it is worth noting that despite all drama in the recent week, Andy Pycroft has been appointed as the match referee for the upcoming match against India on Sunday, September 21.

While, Salman Agha refused to speak to the reporters, India captain Suryakumar Yadav attended the presser, where he talked about dealing with pressure, outside noise, and how to motivate the boys amid a high-pressure tournament.
