The Indian team is gearing up for the Champions Trophy 2025. The Asian giants, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, will be looking to put in the strongest display and salvage their prestige in the international arena after the humiliating loss against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Notably, India lost in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final against the arch-rivals Pakistan. However, they had a successful campaign before that in 2013. In that edition of the Champions Trophy, India won by defeating England in the tournament's final.
The CT 2013 win came for India under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Since there have been quite a lot of changes on the Indian team; for example, MS Dhoni has retired from cricket. Besides this, a few players have also hung up their boots from international cricket.
In this article, we will look at the players who are left from the CT 2013 final line-up and can also play in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
India's Playing XI in Champions Trophy 2013 Final
Rohit Sharma
Shikhar Dhawan
Virat Kohli
Dinesh Karthik
Suresh Raina
MS Dhoni (C/WK)
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravindra Jadeja
Buhvneshwar Kumar
Looking at this playing XI, we can say that only three players could be a part of the team in the Champions Trophy 2025
1. Rohit Sharma
The Indian star and the leader of the pack in ODIs and Tests will be a part of the Champions Trophy Squad in 2025. Even though Rohit Sharma has not been in the best of forms lately, there is less chance that India will take the drastic step of dropping their skipper for such a big tournament.
Rohit is an impactful batter at the top of the order in ODIs and is an integral part of the team set-up. Given these factors, it looks certain that Rohit will be the first player to be a part of CT 2013 and will be a part of the CT 2025 unit, too.

2. Virat Kohli
Much like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli also suffers from a lack of form in his batting. However, Kohli is an important part of the Indian batting in ODIs. He also enjoys the format, and even though he is struggling with the bat there are chances that he might hit good form in this format.
Also, Kohli's presence in the team is a huge boos for the team in case of such a big tournament. Given the importance of Virat Kohli, the player on the Indian ODI side, one can be sure that the star Indian player will board the flight for the Champions Trophy 2025.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in India's CT 2013 final win. The all-rounder bowled a crucial spell for the team and helped them restrict the opposition in a rain-curtailed affair. However, of the three players who can play in CT 2025 from the CT 2013 final, Jadeja's place is the most uncertain.
There are speculations that India might opt for Axar Patel, Nitish Reddy and Hardik Pandya as their all-rounders for the tournament. As a result, there is a chance that Ravindra Jadeja might miss out on Champions Trophy 2025.
However, given India's propensity to give Jadeja a go in significant tournaments, they may change their point of view at the last moment. Whether Jadeja joins the team to play in Champions Trophy 2025 will be answered with time.
