In a remarkable achievement, veteran Australian opener David Warner overtook legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in the list of highest run-scorers in T20 cricket. The explosive southpaw attained the landmark through a belligerent fifty during Delhi Capitals' third IPL 2024 clash against Chennai Super Kings in Visakhapatnam on Sunday evening. 

Opening the batting with Prithvi Shaw, Warner smashed 52 runs off just 35 deliveries, paving the way for DC's sizeable 191-run total. He came out with all guns blazing right from the word go, ensuring a solid start for his side before falling prey to Mustafizur Rahman. 

In this process, the experienced campaigner surpassed Kohli's tally of 12175 runs to become the fifth highest run-getter in T20 cricket.

Warner's heroics and skipper Rishabh Pant's finishing masterclass powered Delhi Capitals to a respectable 191-run total. In response, the Super Kings lost wickets at regular intervals, finishing their innings on 171 for six, losing the match by twenty runs. 

Delhi Capitals, who opened their account with this clinical victory, will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in match 16 of the tournament on April 3.
