Sri Lanka's young pacer Matheesha Pathirana had a memorable outing in Chennai Super Kings' ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Delhi Capitals at the ACA-VDCA stadium in Visakhapatnam.

After taking a sensational catch to stun DC's in-form opener David Warner, Pathirana showcased his incredible death-bowling skills, castling Mitchell Marsh and Tristan Stubbs in a single over.

The incident occurred in the fifteenth over of the Capitals' innings when they were well-placed at 129 for two, gearing up for a final flourish.

However, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad's decision to bring Pathirana back into the attack worked wonders for the defending champions, with the ace speedster removing the swashbuckling duo of Marsh and Stubbs with two lethal yorkers.

After conceding a boundary on the third delivery of his over, Pathirana castled Marsh with a deadly reverse-swinging yorker. He followed it up with a dot ball before getting rid of Stubbs with a similar delivery.

It was a full length delivery which swung into Stubbs, breaching his defence and shattering his off stump. The South African batter was left shell-shocked, while Pathirana celebrated the dismissal jubilantly with his teammates.

After Pathirana removed the overseas duo, Axar Patel joined skipper Rishabh Pant in the middle to ensure a fitting finish for the hosts. As of writing, the Capitals were 161 for four in 17.5 overs, with Pant and Axar batting on 34* and 5*, respectively.
