With curtains getting drawn on ICC Champions Trophy 2025, it’s the best time to reflect on the ninth edition of the tournament – played after an eight-year gap. First one to be hosted by Pakistan, the eight-team competition witnessed India becoming the first team to lift the silverware for the third time.

A near-perfect performance by the Indian cricket team allowed them to remain unbeaten in a title triumph for the second time. India, who created an infamous toss-related streak, have now won 23 out of their last 24 matches in ICC limited-overs tournaments.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Special Numbers

140 India wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul’s average of 140 across four innings is the third-highest batting average in one season of the Champions Trophy (min. 100 runs). With Australia wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis averaging 131 and South Africa batter David Miller averaging 121, this season is the first time since 2000 when three batters have averaged over 100.

139.08 Having scored the fastest century in Champions Trophy history, Miller’s strike rate of 139.08 is the second-highest for one season (min. 100 runs). Since this tournament didn’t exist on the cricketing canvas for eight years and batting, in particular, has changed quite a lot in this period, it shouldn’t be surprising to know that as many as 12 batters scored runs at a strike rate in excess of 100 (min. 100 runs).

Previously, four batters each had been able to do the same in 2002, 2013 and 2017. Additionally, 2025 Champions Trophy’s overall strike rate of 89.95 is the highest for all seasons.

5.67 As a result, 5.67 runs getting scored in an over on an average is the highest for a season.

140 This Champions Trophy witnessed the highest number of sixes for a season. 113 sixes in 2017 were the highest till now.

368 Highest run-scorer Rachin Ravindra batted for the maximum minutes this season. Since 2000, this is the first time when no batter has batted for 400 minutes in the Champions Trophy.

15.11 For bowlers with a minimum of five wickets, India spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s average of 15.11 is the highest this season (min. 5 wickets). However, other than 2000, this is only the second season when no bowler has averaged less than 15 (min. 5 wickets).

5.58 While 100 bowlers in 2025 Champions Trophy is the minimum for a season, an overall economy rate of 5.58 is the highest ever. Historically, no season had seen bowlers leaking runs at more than 5.5 runs per over.

17.8 For bowlers with a minimum of five wickets, Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai’s strike rate of 17.8 is the highest this season.

267 For a Champions Trophy season with a maximum of five matches, New Zealand pacer Will O’Rourke conceding 267 runs are the most for a season.

106 Only the second time when fielders have combined to grab more than 100 catches in a Champions Trophy season. 123 catches were grabbed in 2006.

20 Just 20 catches by wicket-keepers, on the other hand, are the second-worst after 1998. In spite of being played in Asia, only three stumping dismissals are the joint-lowest. While the same number of stumping dismissals had happened in 2004 and 2017 as well, those two seasons were played in England.

3 England have joined Zimbabwe (2006), West Indies (2009) and Pakistan (2013) to become the fourth team to lose all their Champions Trophy matches in a season.
