Babar Azam's Pakistan Out Of T20 World Cup? What If PAK vs CAN Is Abandoned Due To Rain

Pakistan will cross swords against Canada in match 22 of the ongoing T20 World Cup at Nassau County International Stadium in New York. Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan are on the verge of a group-stage elimination, having lost two consecutive matches.

After the United States pipped them in a Super-Over thriller, Pakistan agonisingly fell short of a 120-run target, incurring a six-run defeat against arch-rivals India.

So besides winning their other two fixtures, Pakistan need a few results to go their way in order to stay alive in the competition.

Meanwhile, as the Men in Green gear up for their third group-stage clash, serious doubts loom over the Pakistan vs Canada game, with precipitation chances reading 25 per cent during the game.

What if PAK vs CAN is abandoned due to rain?

Pakistan have had a horrible T20 World Cup campaign so far, reeling at fourth position in the points table with two consecutive defeats.

So, they must win their remaining two matches in order to stay in the Super 8 contention. However, if today's encounter against Canada gets called off due to rain, Pakistan will have to be satisfied with a single point.

So, even if they win their remaining one game, Pakistan will be stranded on three points, while the United States (currently second with 4 points) will require a solitary win in two outings to proceed to the next stage.

Frankly, Pakistan's competition is basically with the USA and Canada, with India likely to power themselves to the Super Eights. So, if two teams end up on same points, the equation will come down to their Net Run Rate (NRR).
