The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) saw the Kolkata Knight Riders crowned the champions after 10-long years. However, after the end of the tournament, it is time of the teams to go back to their drawing boards. There will be a mega-auction ahead of the next season (IPL 2025) and the teams will have to reform their squads.

During this transition phase for the teams, there might be a lot of changes that will see. Some of the big names are pitted to leave their teams, also there are talks about teams releasing some of the big names from their squads.

Here are five players who might leave their IPL teams.

1.Rohit Sharma

The five time IPL winning and the former captain of the Mumbai Indians might be the biggest name who leaves his team. Rohit Sharma has been a part of the MI set up since 2011. He gradually became an integral part of the squad and was later handed over the captaincy in 2013. The results of this change were evident as MI won their first IPL trophy in the same year and went onto win the Champions League T20 later.

After this, Rohit Sharma built a legacy that will stay in the history books of IPL forever. However, before the IPL 2024 season, MI traded in Hardik Pandya and handed over the captaincy to him. This might have resulted in some bad blood between the franchise and the player. With Hardik Pandya given the responsibility just ahead of IPL 2024, there are little chances that they will take it away from him. Thus, Rohit Sharma might be induced to request the franchise to release him.

2. KL Rahul

The Lucknow Super Giants were of the two new franchises in IPL 2022. KL Rahul was traded by the team and they made him the leader immediately. The LSG team did a good job under Rahul's captaincy in the first two seasons, where they made it to the top four. However, IPL 2024 did not go as planned. The Super Giants could not gather any momentum during the tournament and had bow out from the league stages. KL Rahul was criticised a lot for his sedate batting approach and not so effective captaincy. The owner of the team was seen openly expressing his frustration on the player after one of the games. Keeping these things in mind, there are chances that Rahul might be released by LSG ahead IPL 2025 mega-auction.

3. Rishabh Pant

The Delhi Capitals were planning to build their future around Rishabh Pant. He as seen as one of their core members and the belief in him was also evident from the move of making him the skipper of the team. But the Capitals have not achieved the success they would have hoped for when they made Rishabh Pant the leader of the team. As a result, the Capitals might release Pant ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction.

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The Indian pacer has been an integral part of the SRH set up for some years now. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been of great service to the team. He has been an asset for them picking up wickets with the new ball as well as the old ball. However, Bhuvi is well past his prime. As the SRH team will be looking to rebuild their team, they might let go of Bhuvi and try to completely restructure their team.

5. Glenn Maxwell

The RCB invested a whopping sum of INR 14.25Cr on Glenn Maxwell during the auction ahead of IPL 2021. He served the franchise well for the first three seasons. Not only did Maxwell play some game-changing knocks with the bat, he also bowled some brilliant spells with the ball. However, the Australian superstar had a terrible time in IPL 2024. He failed to make any kind of contribution for the team. RCB will be looking to rebuild their team and this time Glenn Maxwell might not be a part of their primary plan.
