IPL 2025 begins in less than two weeks, and all ten franchises have begun their preparations for the cash-studded league. Indian stars who were part of the Champions Trophy squad have also returned to India and joined their teams ahead of the upcoming season.
Eyes would be on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as the two-star players attract the biggest crowd whenever they walk to bat. Talking about the hitman, he is on cloud nine after winning the second-straight ICC title and would be looking to smash bowlers across the park in IPL 2025. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on three reasons why Rohit Sharma might outscore Virat Kohli in IPL 2025.
1.No Pressure Of ICC Trophies Compared To Last Year
A lot has changed for Rohit Sharma since IPL 2024. He had to go through a lot during IPL 2024 and the seasons before that as there was a constant reminder from the fans that he is yet to win an ICC trophy with India as a captain.
Despite being on IPL duty, Rohit had the pressure to end the ICC trophy drought with India. However, since his last IPL knock, he has led the Men in Blue to two ICC trophies- the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. Thus, in the true sense, the hitman would be carefree with no clutter of thoughts in his head.
Thus, a clear head would allow Rohit to play his shots freely and most importantly enjoy the natural game that his fans have missed from him.
Rohit was sacked as MI captain in 2024, which caused a big stir on social media. However, the decision to play Rohit just as a batter turned out to be gold because the hitman produced his best IPL season with the bat in the past 10 years.
Notably, Rohit amassed 417 runs in 14 matches, which included a century and a fifty-plus score. Thus, Rohit would look to bank on that confidence and also now since the team atmosphere is also better than IPL 2024, it would be easier for Rohit to bat free of captaincy duties, media roles and better relations with Hardik Pandya.
Further, Rohit's performance in T20Is has also been a plus as seen in T20 World Cup, where he was India's best batter. He had amassed 257 runs in 8 innings, averaging 32.13.

3. Virat Kohli Not In the Best Form Of His Life
Besides Rohit's form going into IPL 2025, Virat's form is also a big concern. The right-hand batter isn't in the best of form. How things turned positive for Rohit since IPL 2024 hasn't been the same for Virat.
The RCB star has had a mixed year, as he played a few crucial knocks but has also struggled for runs in the shortest format of the match despite being the orange cap winner in last edition.
Another reason why Virat might find it hard to score runs in IPL 2025 is because of the change of captaincy in RCB. The three-time finalists have announced Rajat Patidar as the new captain.
Now Rajat too would come up with plans as to how he wants the team to move forward and the style in which the Challengers will play IPL 2025. For his plan to fit Virat's style is still unknown, thus it is fair to assume that the change might have an impact on Virat's form.
