The Champions Trophy 2025 is seven months away, and there are no favourites as of now. Talking about India, then the Men in Blue are low on confidence after they suffered an embarrassing defeat against Sri Lanka.

In the recently concluded series, India lost a bilateral series against the Island Nation in the last 27 years. The defeat is a worrying sign for India going forward, but they should also take the positive out of it and give more chances to young players.

It is a new era for the Indian side as players like Ravindra Jadeja, who are on the wrong side of 30s, have already been shown the door and are unlikely to be considered for the Champions Trophy.

Thus, it is a great time for Gautam Gambhir and the Indian management to groom young players. Here is the list of three players who, if given a longer rope, can prove to be the match winners.

1.Abhishek Sharma

The game is moving at an unprecedented pace, as times have gone by when one of the openers used to be aggressive and the other merely an anchor. In today's time, both openers have to go all guns blazing right from the start.

Talking about Abhishek, he is yet to make an ODI debut but was exceptional in his debut T20I series. Sharma also scored a century in his 2nd game and it would be nice to see a Sharma-Sharma pair for the Champions Trophy.

2. Riyan Parag

The only positive out of the recently concluded Sri Lanka tour has been Riyan Parag. The RR star batter made his ODI debut in the 3rd match of the series and starred with the ball. He took a three-wicket haul but failed to show promise with the bat.

There are chances that Parag might sit on the bench once Hardik Pandya comes in, but the management must give him more chances or show faith so that he can peak at the Champions Trophy.

3.Harshit Rana

One of the weak links for India at the moment is their bowling attack. The Men in Blue lack a wicket-taker and Harshit can fulfil that for India.

Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj have leaked runs and looked a pale shadow of their peak versions. Thus, India can try Harshit as their third seamer.
