3 Players Mumbai Indians Can Retain Before IPL 2025 Mega Auction

The IPL 2024 season ended with the Kolkata Knight Riders winning their third title in the history of the coveted league. The end of the season, however, marked the countdown for another mega auction. The cricketing fraternity is currently engaged in detailed discussions about how many players each team will retain and who the retentions will be. 

Although, the number of retentions to be allowed for each team has not been clearly mentioned by the BCCI, there are talks that they will allow 5-6 retentions per team. Now, taking the number of retentions to be five let us take a look at some players each IPL team might retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. 

Talking about Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams in the history of the tournament. They had a rough time during the IPL 2024 season. With the change in captaincy and a bottom of the table finish, it was not a season the MI fans will remember for too long. 

While they might look to bring about a few changes in their set up, here are three players that Mumbai Indians will desperately look to retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. 



1.Hardik Pandya

The Mumbai Indians traded Hardik Pandya with the Gujarat Titans in exchange for a heft amount. They also made him the the leader of the team for the 2024 season. Although things did not pan out as per expectations, there are little possibilities that MI will release Pandya. They might look to form a squad for the future around Hardik Pandya and hope that he adds to the rich legacy of the club as a leader. 

2. Jasprit Bumrah

The Indian ace pacer has been a prized asset for the Mumbai Indians since his team with the franchise. Jasprit Bumrah's overs in all the stages of a game are precious to the cause of the team. The Mumbai Indians will be eager to hold onto the wicket-taking abilities that Jasprit Bumarh brings to the table. 

3. Suryakumar Yadav

The Indian batter has dominated the T20 format for the last few years. Suryakumar Yadav has also been made the captain of the national team recently. The experience and mastery of Suryakumar Yadav will be crucial for MI when they look to build the team for the future. SKY will be a part of the core around which this new team will take shape.
