Chennai Super Kings is the biggest brand and the most successful team in the history of the IPL. They have won the title five teams and have consistently seen themselves in the business end. However, IPL 2024 was one of those rare seasons, where CSK failed to make it to the final four. With change in the leadership and the probable retirement of MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings will be looking to build a team that keeps on adding jewels to the much-decorated crown of the franchise.

Here are three players that CSK will definitely look to retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.

1.Ruturaj Gaikwad

The leader of the CSK team, MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad just ahead of the IPL 2024. The idea was that he will try and groom the Indian opener for the role before he leaves the stage. Although MS Dhoni has not announced his retirement from the league till now, it is expected that he will not play in IPL 2025. In MSD's absence it will be Gaikwad, who CSK will look upto as the next leader. With such a big responsibility already entrusted on him Gaikwad will be their first retention.

2. Ravindra Jadeja

With the change in the leadership role, Ravindra Jadeja with his experience will play a crucial role in the rebuilding of the team. CSK have always believed in keeping their core strong and consistent and Jaddu has long been a part of this core. Although Jadeja has announced his retirement from the T20I format, it is expected that he will continuing playing IPL for at least two to three years. CSK will be looking to stick with this all-rounder and keep as a part of the squad during this time.

3. Matheesha Pathirana

This young Sri Lankan pacer has proved to be a prized asset for team. Matheesha Pathirana in his relatively short career with CSK has proved himself as a match winner. It is expected that CSK will look to hold on to the talent that has mostly been groomed under their roof.
