3 Future Super Stars Absent; MI Will Miss These Players From 2024 Squad In IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians have a great legacy in the Indian Premier League. With five titles and great winning ration in the finals of the tournament, they are considered the best team in the league. However, in the last couple of seasons they have not delivered as per expectations and need to script a turn around in IPL 2025. 

In order to return to their championship spree, Mumbai Indians have accumulated a squad covering all the bases for the 2025 season. Even though they have an overall well rounded squad, they might miss a few of their players from the 2024 squad.

The young right-arm pacer establishes himself as a key member in the Mumbai Indians' bowling line-up. During the IPL 2023 season, Akash Madhwal played the role of the strike bowler and did a brilliant job in absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

During his time with the Mumbai Indians, Madhwal picked up 19 wickets in 13 matches while having an average of below 23 and an economy rate of around 10. Although the numbers did not look great, he could have been a great potential investment for them. 

The Rajasthan Royals bought Akash Madhwal for ₹ 1.20 Cr during the IPL 2025 auction. In Madhwal's absence, the Mumbai Indians might miss a quailty backup bowler who could have done a decent job in provding the support for the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult.

The young left-handed middle-order batter did a very decent job for Mumbai Indians in the chances that he got for Mumbai Indians. In the 20 matches that Nehal Wadhera has played for the franchise, he has scored 350 runs at a strike rate of 140 and at an average of over 23. 

Even though he did a great job for the Mumbai Indians, he was released by them ahead of IPL 2025 auction. During the event, the Punjab Kings bought him for INR 4.20 Cr. Even though impactful performances were missing from him, he could have been a great prospect for them in the future. 

During the IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians might miss a back up young batter who could have added more depth and flexibility to their squad. 

1. Ishan Kishan

The Indian wicket-keeper batter was one of the most invested assets for Mumbai Indians. Ishan Kishan served as their opener and did play some crucial and impactful knocks for the during the time with the franchise. 

In the 89 matches that Kishan played for Mumbai Indians, he scored 2,325 runs at an average of 29.81 and a strike rate of 136.85. Even though, he played well, MI released him ahead of IPL 2025 auction. 

During the upcoming IPL edition, Ishan Kishan will play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad who bought him for ₹ 11.25 Cr during the mega auction. In his absence, Mumbai Indians will have to find another player to open the batting for them. They will have adjust their squad to find the perfect replacement for Kishan and maximize his potential in the role.
