After securing an emphatic series win over West Indies, England are gearing up to face India in a five-match series. England's tour of India consists of eight white-ball matches, including five T20Is and three ODIs. 

Led by Jos Buttler, England have announced a robust squad for the India T20Is. As the visitors prepare for the high-voltage series, here are five IPL stars who could be game-changers for them. 

1. Phil Salt

  • England's swashbuckling batter Phil Salt, who bagged an IPL deal with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been one of the mainstays for his side in white-ball cricket. 
  • Salt's rise as a T20I opener is nothing short of inspirational, as the batter has amassed 467 runs at an average of 38.91 and a blistering strike rate of 164.43 in T20Is since 2024. 
  • He can exploit the flat batting conditions and could be serious threat to the Indian bowling lineup in the upcoming T20I series. 

2. Jos Buttler 

  • England captain Jos Buttler is undoubtedly their most valuable asset with the bat in T20Is. Buttler, who will represent Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025, knows the Indian conditions really well, being a regular face in the lucrative league. 
  • The swashbuckling keeper-batter is in sublime form, amassing 462 runs in his previous 13 T20I innings at an average of 42 and a strike rate of 164.41. 
  • So, considering his batting prowess and experience of playing in India, we reckon Buttler will definitely emerge as a headache for the Indian bowling attack. 

3. Jacob Bethell

  • England's latest batting sensation Jacob Bethell was Melbourne Renegades' second most successful batter in the BBL 2024-25. The dynamic southpaw, who RCB purchased in the IPL auction, has struck 173 T20I runs at a superb average of 57.7 and a strike rate of 168. 
  • Besides ensuring flexibility and quality in the English batting unit, Bethell can chip in with a few overs of left-arm off spin, making him a player to watch out for in the much-anticipated series. 

4. Jamie Overton

  • Experienced cricketer Jamie Overton will likely play as England's first-choice seam-bowling all-rounder in the India T20s. 
  • Overton, who was purchased by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 auction, has enjoyed stellar success in T20 cricket, scalping 111 wickets at a healthy strike rate of 18.2. 
  • Apart from striking at crucial junctures and providing England with a reliable bowling option in the middle and death overs, Overton can play valuable quick-fire cameos lower down the order. 

5. Jofra Archer

  • England's premier speedster Jofra Archer in known for his ability to make the new ball talk. The right-arm pacer, who will play for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025, has bagged the second most wickets for England in T20Is since 2024. 
  • Besides troubling the Indian top order with his accuracy and movement, Archer can hit the deck hard and nullify the scoring opportunities in the slog overs with his yorkers and slow balls. Thus, he is a vital cog in the English side and could be a game-changer for the tourists in the series.
