The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 on April 30, 2024, which will jointly be hosted by the USA and West Indies in June. 

Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the captain of the team with Hardik Pandya given the role of vice-captain. 

Notable players like Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal have been included in the team. Apart from this, Shivam Dube has also been included in the team after a commendable performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). 

The 30-year-old cricketer will play his first ICC event, the all-rounder made his debut in T20I against Afghanistan. 


Shivam Dube Opines On Rohit Sharma Endless Support And Guidance 

In a video released by the BCCI.tv, Shivam Dube expressed himself and stated that he had trouble sleeping as he had mixed thoughts regarding his selection in the T20 World Cup squad. 

“When I came to Afghanistan series, Rohit Bhai had told me that I will bowl and bat. I just have to tell you what you can do. I was focusing on that because if the captain tells you that you will do this and you have to watch us, you express yourself. I thought how I should perform so that my team gets the benefit and if I do well, the team wins,” said Dube in a video shared by BCCI.

The CSK all-rounder also claimed that during the Afghanistan series, Rohit Sharma told him that he would need to impress everyone with his skills and that what he could do was guide him and support him. 

In the ongoing Indian Premier League, Shivam Dube has smashed three half-centuries and has scored 350 runs in 9 matches with a strike rate of 172.41. 

The Indian team will start its campaign on June 5, 2024, against Ireland.
