'Wrong Side of The Law...': Aakash Chopra Takes A Brutal Dig At English Cricket

In a scathing critique, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has unleashed a verbal assault on English Cricket following the visa debacle involving Shoaib Bashir. The English media, quick to point fingers at the Indian system for the delay in Bashir's visa approval, now finds itself in the crosshairs as it surfaces that the fault lies with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Here's what he tweeted:

Chopra, known for his candid opinions, took a sly dig at English Cricket, accusing them of conveniently invoking the 'Spirit' of the game whenever they find themselves on the wrong side of the law. The irony is palpable as the English media, rather than acknowledging ECB's lapse, continued to disparage the Indian system.

The 20-year-old spinner, set to feature in the IND vs ENG 1st Test, was forced to return to the UK to resolve the visa delay caused by ECB's failure to adhere to the required process. Despite the misstep being on the English side, the media's blame game persisted.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma expressed sympathy for Bashir during a pre-match press conference, highlighting the challenges faced by any player navigating visa issues. Sharma's sentiments echoed the hope for a swift resolution, allowing Bashir to enjoy his time in India and participate in the upcoming cricketing battles.
