Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has voiced his admiration for Jasprit Bumrah, labelling him as an exemplary ambassador of the game, especially given his focus on red-ball cricket even after undergoing surgery.

Bumrah made a stellar comeback to international cricket after a long hiatus. His return to red-ball cricket showcased a remarkable performance, notably in the last Test. Bumrah's figures of 6/61 not only dismantled the South African batting lineup but also set a modest target of 79 runs for India to successfully chase, accomplishing the task within approximately one and a half days.

In addition to his outstanding performance in the second innings of the second Test, Bumrah served as India's pace spearhead in the first Test, where he secured figures of 4/69. This elevated his overall tally in the series to 12 wickets, earning him the 'Player of the Series' award alongside South African skipper Dean Elgar.

Pathan asserted that Test cricket would thrive with bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, emphasizing his dedication to red-ball cricket even after undergoing surgery.

"If you are prioritizing red-ball cricket even after surgery, you won’t get a bigger brand ambassador than him in bowling. If every country gets a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah, Test cricket will keep flourishing," Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports.

Pathan commended Bumrah's attitude, particularly after recovering from back surgery, deeming him an inspiration not only for Indian cricket but also for the global cricketing community.

"I have fallen in love with Jasprit Bumrah's attitude, especially the way he has bowled after back surgery. He is not only an inspiration for Indian cricket but also for world cricket," added Pathan.

Since his return from a protracted stress fracture, Bumrah has proven unstoppable, reinforcing his immense value to Team India.
