Rahul Dravid took over the coaching duties from Ravi Shastri after the 2021 T20 World Cup, and after heartbreaks in 2022 T20 World Cup, and 2023 ODI World Cup, he finally achieved his goal with T20 World Cup 2024 win. His partnership with captain Rohit Sharma was the talking point throughout his tenure, and the duo played a big role in India's success in the last few years.

Rahul Dravid on his love for Rohit Sharma -

Now, with Rahul Dravid signing off from the role, he has touched upon his connection with Rohit Sharma and how over the years, he has developed a special bond with the Hitman. Dravid mentioned that he enjoyed working with Rohit Sharma and knew him as a young boy. He also added that it is heartening to see Rohit progress as a player and a leader over the years. 

"I have really enjoyed working with Rohit, he is someone I knew as a young boy, just to see him grow as a person, grow as a leader in Indian cricket, what someone like him has been able to contribute to the team over the last 10-12 years, both as a player and now as a leader, has been a real tribute to him and the effort he has put in, the time he has put in." 

Dravid also stated that he also enjoyed knowing Rohit Sharma as a player and praised him for the way he kept the team environment inclusive and added that he will miss the connection with Rohit Sharma.

"I have really enjoyed getting to know him as a person as well, really enjoyed seeing his commitment, his care to the team, just to try to get the environment right, to try and make it an environment where everyone else feels safe, secure and enjoy themselves, while it's also a very competitive and a professional environment. It's something that I will miss, this connection with Rohit."

There is still mystery over Dravid's successor but one of the front-runner is Gautam Gambhir who recently played a massive role in KKR's success in IPL 2024.
