Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will go up against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 43rd match of IPL 2025. The game will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 25. So far, this IPL season has been rough for CSK. They’ve lost six out of their eight matches, which makes their chances of reaching the playoffs very slim.

Many people believe CSK messed up during the player auction. They picked a strong top order but didn’t focus much on their middle-order batting. And when the top-order batters didn’t perform in most matches, things went downhill. The situation got worse when Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured. Even though the bowlers tried their best, the weak batting lineup couldn’t support them enough to win games.

Dewald Brevis To Make CSK Debut Today?

Looking ahead, CSK have brought in young South African player Dewald Brevis as a replacement for Gurjapneet Singh. Brevis is a talented youngster, and there’s a chance he might make his CSK debut today against SRH.

Head coach Stephen Fleming hinted at this possibility but also said the team has other players who’ve been with them since the beginning of the tournament.

"He's one of the options that we'll look at. We've got other players as well who have been with us for the whole tournament. Brevis is a good addition to the squad, but we just have to manage what we think would be the best team, given the players that have been working away with us, and also look at the impact that Brevis can have. So that's part of the discussion," said Fleming.

CSK Sign Dewald Brevis In Place Of Injured Pacer

Brevis, who joined CSK for IPL 2025, was signed for INR 2.2 crore. He replaced Gurjapneet Singh in the squad. Since CSK had already picked seven foreign players in the mega-auction, they were allowed to sign another overseas player.

Before joining CSK, Brevis played for the Mumbai Indians in the last two seasons. He has played 10 IPL matches so far and scored 230 runs with a strike rate of 133.72. However, Mumbai Indians didn’t retain him before the mega-auction, and he went unsold until CSK picked him up recently.
