'Will be Getting Opportunity...,' Rahul Dravid Backs Suryakumar Yadav for First Two ODIs

World Number 1 T20 batter Suryakumar Yadav has been exceptional in the shortest format of the game, however, he has found it tough to score in ODI cricket. His performance in the One-Day format has been far from ideal and, in fact, poor if we term it preciously.

His class-aggressive batting, fierce strokeplay and fantastic timing have made him the ultimate superstar in the game's shortest format. However, being unable to replicate the form in 50 overs cricket is a cause of concern, not just for him but for Indian management as well, who have backed him thoroughly for the past year or so despite constant failures.

The trend is set to continue for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia as Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has confirmed in the press conference on the eve of the series that Surya will feature in the first two matches, which could be his final opportunity to prove himself before the World Cup.

"We completely back Suryakumar Yadav. We believe he will do well in ODI Cricket and turn thing around in ODIs, and will be getting opportunity in the First two ODIs against Australia".

Yadav's opportunity in the series is a result of senior players like skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli being rested from the first two games to provide them proper rest after a hectic Asia Cup.

This could prove to be a crucial opportunity in SKY's career, considering the last time he faced the Aussies was in March this year in a three-match series, and, surprisingly, he registered ducks in all of them.

With eyes set on the World Cup, India-Australia will begin the bilateral series on 22nd September in Mohali.
