'Why Was Irfan Pathan Dancing With Rashid Khan?' - Azhar Ali Questions 'Padosi' Pathan

The famous clip of Irfan Pathan dancing with Rashid Khan in celebrations for Afghanistan's remarkable upset against Pakistan at the ICC World Cup 2023 hasn't gone well with ex Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali, who questioned the commentator on bias and urged him to "stay neutral".

Azhar took a negative note of the former India left-arm pacer joining the Afghanistan spin king in winning celebrations by dancing at the sidelines of the post-match show for World Cup host broadcaster Star Sports.

The former captain wondered if Pathan would've been equally happy had Pakistan come out victorious on Monday (October 23) in Chennai.

The Indian cricketer doesn't enjoy the best of reputations amongst Pakistani fans and ex-players due to his salty "padosi" reference in anti-Pakistan tweets and digs taken on cricketing matters.

Azhar puts scanner on Irfan after dancing with Rashid Khan

"Why was Irfan Pathan dancing with Rashid Khan?" Azhar Ali asked as reported by a Pakistan journalist after a clip went viral on Twitter in the aftermath of Afghanistan's incredible victory over their historic nemesis Pakistan in Chennai.

Pathan was busy with his broadcasting duties as a commentator for the host broadcaster and expert when he watched Rashid Khan lead a great lap of honour at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and suddenly decided to indulge in the famous Punjabi bhangra before the Afghan spinner joined him in the fun.

That Irfan wore a delighted expression on his face and celebrated Afghanistan's victory didn't warm and amuse Azhar as much as it did the Indian fans. The former Pakistan skipper spoke from the Pakistani fans' perspective about an Indian standing jubilant in a win for their team's opposition.

"Does he belong to Afghanistan? He's a commentator and he has to stay neutral. India didn't win last night, Afghanistan won and Afghanistan is not's Irfan Pathan's country," the retired cricketer said.

The former Indian all-rounder has been a point of attention for Pakistan fans for quite some time and it seems even the former cricketers are now taking note of the ex India player's anti-Pakistan gestures and statements on social media.
