The cricketing world is buzzing as the mother of all battles is set to unfold: India vs Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The high-voltage encounter is set for Sunday in Dubai and fans are already at the edge of their seats.

With Pakistan desperate to bounce back from a dismal start and India looking to extend their winning run, this one is going to be a cracker of a contest.

AB de Villiers Predicts Winner for India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy Clash

Former South African legend AB de Villiers has thrown his weight behind India, backing them to take down Pakistan. In a video on Instagram, De Villiers made his stance clear: India is the team to beat.

“Pakistan is hosting the tournament but India is the favourite. I’ll go with India,” De Villiers said confidently.

The South African veteran didn’t just stop there. He went on to break down why India has the upper hand as he highlighted their depth in both batting and bowling. According to him, India’s firepower across departments makes them a formidable unit.

“I am considering India as the favourite in this match because the team has great batsmen and bowlers. The all-rounders are also amazing. There are many great players in the team. I am considering India as the favourite in this match,” added De Villiers.

Pakistan Needs To Be At Their Best: AB de Villiers

While De Villiers highlighted India’s dominance, he didn’t write Pakistan off completely. He pointed out that Pakistan’s pace attack could be a game-changer if they hit the right areas. With the defending champions playing on home soil, they will be itching to prove a point.

“There is going to be a great match between India and Pakistan on Sunday. Pakistan is going to face India in Dubai. Pakistan’s team would like to enter the match with confidence. Pakistan is the defending champion of the Champions Trophy. Pakistan is the host team of the tournament. I am hoping that Pakistan will show its best game in this match. Will Pakistan’s pace attack be able to stop the Indian batsmen? It is going to be very interesting to see,”  concluded the 41-year-old.

Pakistan’s unpredictability has always been their strength and if they bring their best cricket, India will have to be on high alert. However, De Villiers believes India’s overall squad balance gives them the edge.
