On Sunday, February 23, Pakistan will lock horns against India in a high-voltage clash and the most anticipated game of Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Blue are in a comfortable situation as they are placed 2nd in their group with a win over Bangladesh.
However, Pakistan are sweating hard as the hosts suffered a 60-run defeat in their opening game and are on the brink of another early exit in the ICC tournament. A defeat won't officially see Pakistan crash out of the Champions Trophy, but it reduce their chances to go through the next round.
Ahead of the much-awaited clash, the Men in Green have roped in a special coach to help them prepare for Dubai conditions as both teams are in UAE as a part of the hybrid model discussed by the two boards. Meanwhile, the PCB has hired former cricketer Mudassar Nazar to educate them about conditions in Dubai.
Why Have Pakistan Hired Mudassar Nazar As Special Coach?
Notably, the former cricketer has also served as Pakistan's head coach and then went on to coach Kenya and UAE. Thus, this knowledge of conditions in UAE and Dubai, in particular, is something Pakistan is looking to bank on.
The 68-year-old was seen at Pakistan’s training session on Friday evening, spending a considerable amount of time with the players. The former all-rounder also worked as the Director of Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy for a while and served with the ICC’s Global Cricket Academy in Dubai. He had also worked as a national selector for the Emirates Cricket Board.
It is to be seen how will Mudassar help Pakistan prepare for India clash in such a short span of time. Nonetheless, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side were seen sweating hard in the training sessions.
