In a breathtaking display of cricket, Australia trounced the Netherlands by an astounding 309 runs during their recent World Cup 2023 match, further bolstering their chances of clinching a spot in the top four.

This victory not only reinforced Australia's winning streak but also provided a massive boost to their Net Run Rate (NRR).

AUS vs NED: Cummins reflects on stellar performance vs Dutch

After the match, Australian skipper Pat Cummins expressed his satisfaction over their team's performance. He commended Glenn Maxwell for his explosive innings, and cheekily described their partnership as equally contributive.

He also highlighted Steve Smith's valuable contribution with the bat. Despite the massive win, Cummins believes there's room for improvement, indicating that the team hasn't fully perfected their batting approach over the full 50 overs.

“Really happy, complete game. To put 400 on board and then defend well, couldn't be happier. (on Maxwell's knock) Crazy innings. I think we both contributed equally in that hundred partnership (chuckles)."

"Fantastic innings, the cleanest hitting I've seen. We played the style we like to. Pleased with Smithy getting runs. We were aiming for powerplay wickets, bowled quite well without a lot of luck. Zamps with another four-fer. (Areas to improve) I don't think we have totally nailed the 50 overs with the bat yet,” said Cummins.

Looking ahead, Cummins acknowledged the upcoming challenge against New Zealand in Dharamsala, stating that while the Kiwis are a formidable side, the Australian squad is in high spirits and eager for the encounter.

“They (New Zealand) are a really good side. Big game in Dharamsala. It's the World Cup and we are in a good space, can't wait to get there,” added the Aussie captain.

Coming to the game, Maxwell stunned the audience with the fastest World Cup century, taking only 40 balls. His record-breaking innings, combined with David Warner's exceptional century, propelled the Australians to an impressive score of 399/8 in their 50 overs.

On the Netherlands' side, Logan van Beek was the silver lining, pocketing four vital wickets against the Australian onslaught. However, the Dutch batting lineup crumbled in the face of Australia's fierce bowling attack, managing to score only 90 before being bowled out. Adam Zampa was the star bowler for Australia, taking four wickets.
