In a gripping low-scoring match at Mullanpur Stadium, the Gujarat Titans clinched victory by three wickets against the Punjab Kings. Once again, Sam Curran, standing in as captain for the injured Shikhar Dhawan, found himself on the losing side and he didn't shy away from expressing his disappointment at the defeat.

Punjab's woes get deepen

Punjab Kings' poor form persisted as they suffered another defeat, this time at home against the struggling Gujarat Titans. Batting first, Punjab Kings managed to score 142 runs in 20 overs.

Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, and Sai Kishore bowled brilliantly, restricting Punjab Kings to moderate total.

In response to PBKS' 142, Gujarat Titans chased down the target with 3 wickets in hand and 5 balls remaining. Rahul Tewatia's brilliant cameo innings played a crucial role in making the chase easier for Gujarat Titans.

With this victory, Gujarat jumped to the 6th position in the table, while Mumbai Indians had to settle for 7th. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings remain at the 9th position in the table.

Batters let down PBKS again

"I think so (we were 10-15 short). The effort with the ball was incredible, the commitment and fight was amazing, but it was not enough. The Afghanistan spinners are world class bowlers and Sai Kishore bowled really well, credit to them. That is the third time we have used that pitch, anything above 160 would have been a par total but we still fought well"- Sam Curran said post game.

Throughout the season, Punjab Kings' batting has been below par. In most matches, it was the young prodigies Shashank and Ashutosh who kept them in the game.

However, when both of them had an off day, Punjab Kings had to settle for a moderate score, which the Gujarat Titans chased down easily. PBKS have to win all games remaining to be in the playoff equations.
