Chennai Super Kings' batting coach Michael Hussey showered praise on young Indian batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his recent exploits in the IPL 2025. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Suryavanshi slammed the second-fastest hundred in IPL history, etching his name in history books.

Hussey Compares Vaibhav Suryavanshi To Gilchrist

CSK's former opener and current batting coach Michael Hussey hailed Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his stellar knock. Although he found the southpaw's gameplay a bit risky, Hussey highlighted how eye-pleasing such stroke-makers are when they get going.

He even went on to compare Suryavanshi's ball-striking ability to that of Adam Gilchrist, famous for his ultra-aggressive batting as an opener, reminiscing the days when the Australian players used to gather to witness the southpaw bat in the middle.

"When Gilchrist walked out to bat, the whole Australian team would come to the viewing area to watch the game, because such players are just so exciting. I felt the same watching this young kid. Seeing him score a century off 30-odd balls was amazing to watch," Hussey was quoted as saying by the Times Of India (TOI).

"Him and Yashasvi Jaiswal batting together was breathtaking. It is reckless at times, but it is so exciting to watch. To be able to play like that, against some of the best bowlers, it just blows your mind," he added.

Hussey Urges Rahul Dravid To Guide Suryavanshi

CSK batting coach Michael Hussey also feels that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is still a raw talent and RR think tank, particularly head coach Rahul Dravid, should play a key role in nurturing him.

"His life and world have changed forever now. He is going to be on such a high probably for weeks or months. He will need good people around him to guide him. He is very lucky to have Rahul Dravid (RR head coach) and some good senior players." the former Australian batter concluded.

Suryavanshi's Stellar Ton Keeps RR Alive In IPL

Despite losing seven group-stage matches, the Royals are mathematically still alive in the IPL 2025 playoffs race. Up next, they will take on an in-form Mumbai Indians outfit in a fascinating encounter at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 1.
