One of the most recognisable jerseys in world cricket is former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's No.7. So, whenever another cricket dons the exact numbered jersey, it catches the attention of fans all over.

Playing for the Netherlands, batter Vikramjit Singh is currently showing excellent batting skills in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Qualifier in Zimbabwe.

Singh recorded his maiden One-Day International (ODI) century against Oman in Match 5 of the Super Sixes stage, helping the Dutch stay in contention for qualification for CWC main draw in India.

Now, in an interview with ICC, the 20-year-old explained the reason behind picking No.7 as his jersey number and how fans constantly remind him of his Dhoni connection.

Here's what Singh said

"I used to get a lot of comments on that, that I have got Dhoni's number. A lot of people on social media, they love the number 7 on the back obviously a lot of MS Dhoni fans around there. 10 was my favorite number, and unfortunately, Timm van der Gugten, who also plays for the Netherlands, has got the number. So my next favorite number was 7, so that's the story behind it."

Overall, in six matches in Qualifiers 2023, Singh has amassed 273 runs with one hundred and as many fifty.

The Netherlands are currently engaged in a must-win tie against Scotland in Match 8 of the Super Sixes, where the winner will book a flight to India for the World Cup 2023 in October.

As of writing, Scotland are 179 for 3 in 35 overs.
