'Happy And Excited...': Suryakumar Yadav Congratulates Tilak Varma On Maiden Team India T20I Call-up

One of the most exciting young talents, Mumbai Indians' Tilak Varma, earned his maiden Team India T20I call-up for their upcoming five-match series against West Indies in the Caribbean starting August 3.

Varma's selection comes back on a phenomenal Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition for MI, where the batter slammed 343 runs in 11 matches, missing out on five matches due to an injury.

The Indian T20I team will be captained by Hardik Pandya and has veteran players Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli dropped, with the inclusion of the likes of Varma, Mukesh Kumar and Yashasvi Jaiswal. 

MI teammate Suryakumar Yadav, who is also the vice-captain for India's T20I series, took to the social media site Twitter and congratulated the 20-year-old for his inclusion in the squad.

"Congratulations on your maiden T20I call up @TilakV9. So happy and excited for you."

Interestingly, SKY was MI's leading run-scorer in IPL 2023, amassing 605 runs, with one century and five half-centuries. 

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi also finds his way back into the T20I side, after missing out against New Zealand earlier this year. Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, and Avesh Khan are returning to the squad after an injury layoff.
