With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) planning for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, the selectors were expected to name a young-looking Indian squad for the five-match T20I series against West Indies. While there were some expected inclusions, there were several exclusions as well that caught the eye, including Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Nitish Rana.

Youngsters Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been preferred over Rana, who has played for India in two T20Is and one ODI. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Ruturaj Gaikwad also does not find a place in the squad despite having a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Taking to Twitter, Rana posted a cryptic quote that talked about good and bad days after getting snubbed by selectors for the Windies series.

Here's what Rana Tweeted

"Bad days build better days."

Rana played against Sri Lanka in 2021 during India's white-ball tour of the Emerald Island but was dropped after failing to impress.

Leading KKR in the absence of regular captain Shreyas Iyer, the Delhi player had a phenomenal season in IPL 2023, scoring 413 runs in 14 matches, which include three fifties.

Another notable miss from India's T20I squad is KKR's middle-order batter Rinku Singh, who stole the limelight from much-established stars, amassing 474 runs at a strike rate of 149.53.

India's T20 Squad for West Indies:

Ishan Kishan (wk), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Surya Kumar Yadav (vc), Sanju Samson (wk), Hardik Pandya (c), Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar.
