"The way to beat Australia is...": Says Former England Captain Kevin Pietersen

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen believes that England should maintain their aggressive "bazball" approach in the five-match Ashes series against Australia. Pietersen suggests that playing aggressive cricket, rather than being tactical and pragmatic, is the best strategy to secure victory.

In the first match of the highly anticipated Ashes series at Edgbaston, England won the toss and elected to bat first against Australia. The captains, Ben Stokes and Pat Cummins, both expressed their preference to bat on what seemed to be a favorable batting wicket. The match took place under hot and sunny conditions, with both teams hoping to make it a showcase for Test cricket.

Under the leadership of Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum, England has experienced success with their aggressive and carefree "Bazball" approach, winning 12 out of their last 17 Tests. In their upcoming Ashes series against Australia, England will be putting this approach to the ultimate test.

Australia, on the other hand, made the decision to select Josh Hazelwood instead of Mitchell Starc as a pacer. Alongside Hazelwood, Scott Boland, who recently impressed against India, retains his place in the attack. They will be supported by the experienced pace bowler Pat Cummins and veteran spinner Nathan Lyon, who boasts an impressive record of 487 test wickets.

"The way to beat Australia is to go into combat mode and attack. When you fight fire with fire against Australia, you have a way better chance than being tactical, pragmatic, and slow. You've really got to take the attack to them,"told Pietersen, as quoted by National World.

"The way England are playing at the moment, they mustn't change that approach. They must go out against Australia on Friday and from ball one, it's just aggression, aggression, aggression," he added.

Kevin Pietersen played a crucial role in England's victory during the 2005 Ashes series, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest Ashes series of all time. Pietersen's performances were instrumental in England reclaiming the Ashes urn after an 18-year drought. His batting prowess and contributions throughout the series were pivotal in England's success, and he emerged as one of the standout players of the series.
