Australia skipper Pat Cummins, who was the second highest buy in the IPL 2024 auction, has broken the silence on his participation in the upcoming season and also spoke in depth regarding the recent amendments in auction rules for overseas players by BCCI.

Recently, the BCCI increased the retention list from four to six. Further, to curb the last-minute pull-out from overseas players, the apex board of cricket brought a new rule imposing a two-year ban from auctions for a foreign player who withdraws from the tournament after registering their name in the auction.

Further, the current players not register their names in the auction will also have to miss the subsequent season. In the latest events, Cummins shed his views on the matter and remarked that he has never withdrawn his name from the cash-studded league after putting name in the auction list.

Talking about his participation in the next season, Cummins hinted that he would have a look at this workload and remarked that Test cricket remains his No.1 priority.

"I’ll work out in the next little bit what this season looks like. There’s a bit of a tweak in the rules, but I don’t know whether that would have affected me in the past, I’ve never pulled out after the auction. But it is one more factor to consider with the IPL," Cummins said.

Cummins Hails Test Cricket

"Test cricket is the absolute No. 1 priority, World Cups are right up there, and then I think you use them as your tent poles and work out what else makes sense around that. The calendar is never going to get any less busy, and I'm not going to get any younger, so these things have always been my considerations, and moving forward will become even more so. but needless to say, playing cricket for Australia, particularly Test matches, is my number one job and priority," he added.
