Rinku Singh’s journey from humble beginnings in Uttar Pradesh to becoming one of Team India’s white-ball stars is surely remarkable. When Rinku Singh recalled his family hardships
During a media ceremony with NDTV, Rinku Singh was asked to narrate his journey before becoming one of the mainstays of KKR and Team India’s T20 batting line-ups. The cricketer said that his family went through many financial hardships, and his father used to deliver gas cylinders.
Rinku further revealed that he was often urged by his father to let go of his cricketing ambition to join him in delivering cylinders instead. The dashing left-handed batter additionally stated that he was offered a job as a sweeper to support his family, but he boldly rejected the same to pursue his dreams.
Back in 2017, Rinku Singh received his maiden IPL paycheque in the form of a Rs.10 lakh deal with the Punjab Kings franchise. The cricketer was subsequently acquired by KKR ahead of the 2018 season, and has remained an integral member of the franchise since then.
After a couple of prolific seasons with the bat, Rinku Singh earned his maiden Team India cap in August 2023. He played a crucial role in India’s white-ball success in South Africa later that year, and also bludgeoned Afghanistan bowlers in January 2024.
So far, the attacking left-hander has represented the Indian team in two ODIs and 25 T20I matches.
