As the Pakistan cricket is going through turmoil on and off the field, their new central contract landed them into another struggle. In the contract for the 2025-26 season, the Pakistan cricket board brought some revolutionary changes. With some potential snubs, they awarded central contracts to some promising youngsters.
Amidst that, some players’ demotion sparked debate. Expressing disappointment on social media, former Pakistan star Mohammad Hafeez criticized the PCB’s move, highlighting how even big names have been pushed into the lower tier of contracts.
“No A-category player in Pakistan cricket. Test captain in D category. Test match and series winners like Sajid Khan, Noman Ali & Saud Shakeel are in the C category. Less importance to Test cricket and first-class cricket is the biggest reason for the recent downfall,” Hafeez wrote.
