On the back of an accelerating performance from SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma, who scored 37 from just 12 deliveries with three fours and four sixes, the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were overpowered by six wickets and eleven balls to spare.

Abhishek, who has been highly consistent this season, is turning the tide for the Hyderabad-based side as he continues to brutally smash the bowlers at his will.

With a target of 166 for victory, SRH displayed their strategic prowess, always maintaining control of the game. This was largely due to the calculated aggression of Sharma and Aiden Markram (50).

Post-match, the 23-year-old revealed their pre-game analysis, understanding that the wicket would be on the slower side. Their strategy was clear-take on the bowlers in the powerplay, a move that paid off handsomely.

The Punjab-born player also mentioned that they had their preparations here before the season, which helped him acclimatize to the conditions well as the result is there to see.

When asked about the importance of big scores, Sharma had no hesitation in admitting that they do matter and, hopefully, he will get one soon for his side.

Abhishek Sharma, in a show of gratitude, acknowledged the instrumental role of his mentors who have been guiding him behind the scenes.

This includes his father, the West Indian legend Brian Lara, and the former Indian superstar Yuvraj Singh, who has been training Abhishek since his early days. Their guidance and support have undoubtedly played a significant part in his success.

"I think in the bowling we felt it's a bit slow wicket so we knew somehow if we take the powerplay on then we can just go with the flow after that. Actually, we had a chance to prepare well before the IPL, so we somehow knew it was going to be a bit slow but not excessively so. I think big scores really matter and it's just I just went with the flow today and hopefully I'll just get you to the last next time. Actually, it's all the hard work I put before this. So special thanks to my dad, Yuvi Paji, and Brian Lara for this."

This victory opened the doors for SunRisers to return back to winning ways as they received two more points and moved to the 5th position on the points table. Next, they will be seen in action against Punjab Kings in Chandigarh on 9th of April.
