Virat Kohli's 84 helped India chase down 265 against the mighty Australian side in the first semi-final of the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. After the game, the BCCI released a video featuring the former Indian skipper addressing what went through the game.
Virat Kohli Explains The Chase Mantra
Indian batting superstar and former skipper Virat Kohli, who played a crucial 84-run knock against the Australian side at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, helped the Men in Blue qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025 final.
Kohli's 84 consisted of five boundaries. His 84 came at a strike rate of 85.71 as this knock by Kohli was very well supported by Shreyas Iyer's 45 and KL Rahul's 42 not out helping India finish the game with 11 deliveries and four wickets to spare.
Kohli, who was interviewed by BCCI after the game, expressed his emotions and gave insights into what went on during the chase.
"I just love playing this game. I just love batting. As long as the joy of batting and the love for batting is alive, then all the other things can take care of themselves. When in a desperate situation, you put your head down, thank God, and keep working towards what the team wants. More often than not, you will have the results,"
The right-hander known to be calm at the crease, shed light on how they went through the chase in a crucial game like this. Additionally, he also focused on the fact that they have to adjust according to the situation. He stated:
"For me now, it's at this stage of my career, it's all about just getting up for these games, getting excited, coming out here, hopefully, doing the job for the team, and working as hard as I can, run hard between the wickets and play according to the demands of the situation. So, when all those things come together, come off, you obviously feel really good, and to get the team across the line, then it's a great feeling,"
Alongside that, he praised his teammates for their valuable contributions and mentioned that he loves to work hard for his side to get them over the line. He added:
"As a team, you feel great when people keep stepping up through the innings. But, it's a team victory, obviously, it feels amazing. Hardik hit those two crucial shots at a nervous point for us. KL batted outstandingly to close the game off. Shreyas had a great partnership with me. For us, it's the all-round effort that counts."
