According to emerging reports, Delhi Capitals are considering two names as their potential captaincy candidates for the IPL 2025. In a surprising move, the franchise released Rishabh Pant into the mega auction pool ahead of the 2025 season. 

DC Confused Between Axar And Rahul For Captaincy

All IPL teams apart from Delhi Capitals have announced their captains for the IPL 2025. However, the Delhi-based franchise have yet to confirm their leader for the mega event. 

As per a report by the Economic Times, the Capitals have shortlisted two prominent Indian names- Axar Patel and KL Rahul- for the captain's role. 

It's worth mentioning that Rahul could be the frontrunner to lead the Capitals, having captained Punjab Kings and Lucknow SuperGiants in the past. In 123 innings, Rahul has amassed 4683 IPL runs at an average of 45.47 and a strike rate of 134.61. 

However, as it has already been reported, the veteran batter might miss the first couple of games due to the birth of his first child. In such a scenario, the Capitals might decide to appoint Axar as their captain for the IPL 2025. 

Unlike Rahul, Axar has been untested as a captain in the Indian Premier League. However, he has been a vital cog in the Capitals setup, scoring 967 runs and scalping 62 wickets in the tournament. 

Delhi Capitals Search For Harry Brook's Replacement

In another setback for DC, ace English batter Harry Brook confirmed his unavailability for the entire tournament due to national commitment. So, currently, the Capitals are searching for his replacement, with only 12 days left before the commencement of the competition.
