Pakistan cricket is in tatters, and their downfall has been recognised by their own cricketers as well. After the disappointing Asia Cup 2025 campaign, where they lost 3-0 against India in each stage of the tournament, including the Final, the Men in Green will look to rebuild their strength before the T20 World Cup 2026.

However, there has been a scathing attack from the ex-Pakistan cricketers Ahmed Shehzad and Rashid Latif, where they termed their own cricket team as Zimbabwe.

Shehzad, Latif's blunt attack on Pakistan Cricket

While speaking on a Pakistani chat show, Rashid Latif and Ahmed Shehzad were guests and were asked how India is emerging with young talents. The host of the show asked Rashid Latif if India is also going through the rebuilding process, but it is significantly better than Pakistan.

Replying to the host's question, Latif said that India isn't playing matches against teams like Zimbabwe, which is a primary reason for their betterment.

"They prepared the players like this. India's matches are not against Zimbabwe, not against West Indies, not much against Bangladesh. They have kept a certain standard. Our (Pakistan's) Bangladesh series hasn’t even finished yet and they already announced another one with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. By just playing among yourselves, you will never rise up," Latif said.

Ahmed Shehzad brutally criticises Pakistan

Continuing under Rashid's thought, former Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad also launched a scathing attack on Pakistan's poor management, mentorship, and the trauma PCB imposes upon youngsters.

"Your performances are what really count. But your performances are such that they don’t even consider you among the top five teams. You don’t have viewership, you don’t have sponsorship, and no one really wants to play against you. Even when someone agrees, they don’t field their best eight players because they think of Pakistan like Zimbabwe," Shehzad said.

Shehzad then continued bashing PCB for the lack of scouting talents and demotivating the youngsters.

"Why haven’t you produced good players? Why have you been unfair to players and made people cry? Because of you, players move to UAE and USA. The coach turns into a boss, imposing his own will. Do they even know what real coaching is?" Shehzad concluded.

Shehzad and Latif's scathing take on Pakistan cricket might be an eye-opener for many, but as of now, the team has been running in ruins. Nevertheless, they will host South Africa for a two-match Test series from October 12 and then for a tri-match T20I and ODI series with them continuing till November.
