In a rare and refreshing move, legendary cricketer, MS Dhoni finally dropped his guard and hopped onto a podcast. Captain Cool finally gave fans a peek into his mind beyond the boundary line and he didn’t hold back.

MS Dhoni Reveals His Dream Trio

Hosted by podcaster, Raj Shamani, this chat wasn’t your usual Q&A. MS Dhoni spoke his heart out without any filters and gave elaborate answers which won fans over.

When Raj tossed a simple yet loaded question at him: “Pick one opening pair, one bowling spell, and one all-rounder from any era, any generation, any country that he would like to see together” and Dhoni gave it a classic Dhoni-style reply.

“I would stick to my Indian players. Viru Pa opening the innings, Sachin, Dada. Imagine everyone at their prime. The beauty is when you watch them playing, you feel that no one can be better than them. But cricket is a game of ups and downs so it becomes very difficult how to pick one. Growing up, we have seen these players form. See, when Yuvi was hitting 6 sixes, I did not have to see anyone else. Why should I pick anyone? Why can't I just enjoy everyone? There have been players who have won many matches for the team. Earlier, there was no coverage like this. Earlier there were also many such performances that I do not know, because earlier, all these could not be recorded. Today's generation does not know about them,” said Dhoni.

MS Dhoni Continues To Entertain Fans In IPL 2025

Interestingly, this podcast chat happened during Dhoni’s 18th IPL season. his first as an uncapped player. After retiring from international cricket back in August 2020, he is been Chennai’s heartbeat in yellow.

This year, he has been retained for INR 4 crore by CSK and is still pulling crowds, still hitting those helicopter shots and still turning back the clock. However, CSK's performance has been abysmal to say the least. They are reeling at the penultimate spot in IPL 2025 points table with just one win from four matches.
