Not SRH! Eager To Win Indian Fans, Travis Head Predicts This Team To Win IPL 2025

Travis Head, once the architect of India’s heartbreaks in global finals, is now scripting a new chapter as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) linchpin. Fresh off a career-defining 2023-24 across formats, the Australian dynamo has embraced his role as SRH’s aggressor-in-chief.

Partnering young gun Abhishek Sharma, Head’s explosive starts last season redefined SRH’s identity, transforming them from perennial underachievers to title contenders. 

In a recent interaction, Head has revealed his intention to win over Indian fans who once groaned at his match-winning exploits and also predicted the possible winner of IPL 2025.

Head on Winning Over Indian Fans

Reflecting on his polarizing image in India, Head was found joking about the massive cricket craze in India and its impact on his performance for SRH while speaking to News18 for an exclusive interview.

“It’s funny. I respect the fact that India is such a big country with such a big following. I’ve been very fortunate to play well in a couple of games. I guess I just play it off in a jovial way. Some of the stuff that comes out, I find quite funny.”

Travis Head was also open about his awareness of Indian fan's feelings for him and how important it will be to win the hearts of the Indian crowd with his SRH performances.

"Coming to Hyderabad was hugely important to me. It was something I had on my radar. I had a taste of the IPL a few years ago, but to be back here and play well—it’s nice to get some fans on my side after some of the performances."

Head Picks IPL 2025 Winner!

While cautious about predictions, when asked about who is the possible contender of the IPL title this year, Head acknowledged Mumbai Indians’ legacy.

“It’s hard to pick one team. But if I had to go by history, I’d say Mumbai. They’ve been the strongest for a long time and always find a way.”

For SRH, Head's focus is clear, “We just need to worry about what we need to do. If we win enough games to get into the playoffs, anything can happen."

As Head gears up for the season, his message is simple, “If I’m playing well and we’re winning games, that’s all that matters. Hopefully, we can make this season even better than the last.”  For Indian fans, the man who once broke their hearts now holds the key to mending them with Hyderabad’s orange.
