A recent development has sparked anticipation among cricket enthusiasts, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra shared his insights on Team India's potential squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA, set to commence in June. 

Chopra highlighted the challenges faced by all-rounder Hardik Pandya, indicating that his current fitness concerns might hinder his captaincy prospects. 

"Hardik's absence as captain is most likely due to a fitness concern. You are not currently playing," Chopra stated. "It is working against him."

Considering Hardik Pandya's absence from competitive cricket since October 2023 due to an ankle injury during the ICC Cricket World Cup, Chopra speculated that Rohit Sharma would take over the T20I captaincy. He emphasized that Rohit's leadership might extend to the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Chopra acknowledged the impressive performance of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul in the ICC Cricket World Cup, leading to their potential inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad.

 "Rohit Sharma gave explosive starts, Virat Kohli was the Player of the Tournament, and KL Rahul did an amazing job down the order," noted Chopra.

The former cricketer emphasized the significance of recent form, suggesting that the team would likely remain identical to the successful one from the World Cup. 

"If recent performance is taken into consideration, the team will be nearly identical.Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be there, and I would not be surprised if KL Rahul is also there," he concluded.

The much-anticipated T20 World Cup is scheduled to kick off on June 1. India find itself in Group A alongside Ireland, Pakistan, Canada, and the USA. Their campaign begins against Ireland on June 5, followed by a high-stakes encounter against arch-rival Pakistan on June 9 in New York.

Meanwhile, the Super 8 stage will take place from June 19 to June 24 after the Group Stage, which runs from June 1 to June 18. June 26 and June 27 are the dates for the semi-finals, and June 29 is when the tournament will end.
