With every passing international match, David Warner's future with Australia in the white-ball format gets unsure. However, Warner, who will play his third successive World Cup semi-finals, when Australia clashes against South Africa in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, has made his intentions clear of playing white-ball cricket at least the T20 World Cup 2024.

With the World Cup 2023 providing a great platform to bid ODI adieu, Warner is hoping to play on until the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, scheduled in Pakistan. As quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald, the 37-year-old cited examples of players like Shoaib Malik and Chris Gayle, while talking about his impending retirement.

Here's what Warner said

"Bradley Hogg played until he was past 40 [43 in the Big Bash]. Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik did the same thing. I’m still feeling fit. I’ll have to give myself a little bit of time off after this summer to actually think about all of that first. My goal is still to set my sights on playing the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean first [in June].

And I think from there, I’ll probably decide what I’m going to do with white-ball cricket. Obviously, you’ve got contracting systems and all that stuff are inside that. So, there’s a lot of things you’ve got to factor in as well. They’re probably going to be conversations I’ll have after this summer."

Warner also confirmed about not opting for a CA contract next year in an attempt to keep his flexibility in his career. The Delhi Capitals' player is the leading run-getter for Australia in the WC 2023 with 499, including two centuries and as many fifties.
