Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan openly spoke out about his absence from the Ranji Trophy, which ultimately resulted in him missing out on a BCCI contract.

Ishan Kishan faced consequences for ignoring the BCCI's warning to prioritize the Ranji Trophy over the IPL. As a result, he lost his annual BCCI contract. Alongside him, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer also faced consequences for disregarding the warning and giving precedence to IPL cricket.

Ishan Kishan About BCCI contract snub

Ishan Kishan spoke out about the controversy surrounding his not playing Ranji cricket and the subsequent cancellation of his BCCI contract.

"I was practicing. When I took time off from the game, people were talking a lot. Many things came on social media. But you should also realize that many things are not in the hands of the players."-Kishan said.

Kishan is the Mumbai Indians' top run-scorer, in IPL 2024 accumulating 161 runs across five matches, featuring an impressive half-century. His performance has been pivotal in Mumbai Indians' resurgence in IPL 2024.
