Rohit Sharma talking about his famous stump-mic lines (X.com)
There's nothing better than Rohit Sharma's hilarious stump-mic dialogues. India’s all-format skipper often takes the center of attention due to his unique way of throwing a statement, and similarly, during India’s T20I series against Afghanistan, how he spoke to on-field umpire Virender Sharma caught everyone’s eye.
It all happened when Rohit, after two consecutive ducks in the series openers, came to bat in Bengaluru for the third T20I of the series. The veteran opener then scored his first runs of the tie during the opening over of the final match, only to see umpire Virender giving four leg byes.
‘Arey viru, thigh-pad diya kya pehla four? Bat laga tha! (Hey Viru, did you signal for the thigh pad on the first four? I hit that with my bat!),’ Rohit told Virender.
Now, in a recent conversation in the middle of India’s ongoing five-match Test series against England, Rohit was having a conversation with Aparshakti Khurana. There, he talked about the incident and also explained why he remarked. Additionally, he also mentioned he never watches scores on the big screen, and that day, he did it subconsciously.
When Aparshakti told Rohit that his lines become dialogues of many overnight, Rohit said he never intended to do it, as it happens naturally.
