Just as he was on the ground as a captain and a batter in the final match of ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India captain Rohit Sharma was at his typical best during the post-match press conference as well. As a result, becoming a source of amusement for journalists, as always.

Drawing parallels between ICC World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy, Sharma believed that both the global white-ball events are alike. What he meant was the difficulty in becoming champions in spite of the difference in the number of participating teams.

Rohit Sharma’s Response Amuses Journalists

Referring to an old reply, Sharma highlighted how it takes blood and sweat to win any multi-team tournament. This serious learning, however, was delivered in a typical sarcastic manner.

Maine us time par kaha tha ki hamare liye toh woh World Cup jaisa hai. But ismein koi kami nahin hai. Arre aap mujhe poocho kitna who lagta hai yeh jeetne ke liye,” Sharma told the reporters.

Hilariously popular for forgetting things, Sharma also fumbles to find appropriate words while speaking Hindi. As a result, he often ends up referring to things as woh (that).

In order to cash on this funny habit, even brands sign Sharma to create hilarious advertisements. One such ad was running during the course of 2025 Champions Trophy.

No Retirement For Rohit Sharma For Now

A pinnacle of this presser at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium last night was Sharma denying rumours of retirement from international cricket. With reports around this tournament being a swansong for him doing the rounds in the recent weeks, Sharma categorically refuted such claims.

Sharma, 37, has become only the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to win ICC T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. Having committed to the format for now, it would be interesting to see if he’s able to lead the national team during ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.

Yet to be part of an ODI World Cup-winning squad, it isn’t difficult to assume that he has intentions of finishing his career with all three limited-overs titles to his name.
