The third Test between India and England at Lord's turned out to be a roller-coaster ride with the home team winning the game in the final session by just 22 runs. India started Day 5 with six wickets in hand and 135 more runs to get. However, they lost four wickets in the first session itself, and it looked like India would lose the game quickly.
However, Ravindra Jadeja stood tall. He batted brilliantly with the tail, mixing caution with aggression beautifully and took the game till the final session along with the help of tailenders. In the end, Siraj lost his wicket, but Jadeja stayed unbeaten on 61, and his knock would be remembered for a long time.
Jos Buttler Praises Jadeja's Fighting Mindset
Now, Jos Buttler has also praised Ravindra Jadeja on a podcast called Love of Cricket with Stuart Broad. Buttler called Jadeja an incredible player and added that he is one of the player that India turn to in difficult situations. The former English captain added that Jadeja has fighting mentality and always tends to deliver in big moments.
“Jadeja is an incredible cricketer. He's one of those players India turn to. You sort of knew in this run chase, he was going to be a main character because he's that kind of personality, and he's the one that has that bit of something about him. He fights. He is always in the big moments,” Buttler said on Love For Cricket Podcast.
Buttler also stated that KL Rahul was supposed to be the calming influence on the final day while Pant was likely to play the opposite role. However, according to Buttler, Jadeja has that nature to stick around till the end just like MS Dhoni had during his peak.
"If KL Rahul was going to be the calm guy to try and take it through, Pant was probably going to be the opposite—with a bit of dash and trying to win it in an hour—whereas Jadeja has that sort of stickability and ‘I'm going to try and be here till the end.’ It was Dhoni-style, really, just like, ‘I'm going to hope you crack first."
Thus, Buttler, who is himself one of the finest white-ball batters in the world, has spoken highly of Ravindra Jadeja and his ability to deliver in crunch situations. India would be hoping that Ravindra Jadeja continues to do well in the rest of the series, and help India get over the line in the final two Tests.
